Kristin Renee Young, LUCY
Lauded as “fantastic” by The Toronto Star and observed as demonstrating “masterful vocal control” by The Boston Musical Intelligencer, soprano Kristin Renee Young began her musical studies at age five with the violin. Equally at home in the worlds of opera, oratorio, recital, musical theater, and voiceover, Kristin has appeared at world-renowned venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater, Meridian Hall in Toronto, and The Metropolitan Opera.
Kristin's 2024-25 season includes Micaëla in La tragédie de Carmen; Alceste in Handel's Admeto; Zenobia in Handel’s Radamisto; Katie Ellen/Ensemble in Quad City Symphony Orchestra's Omar’s Journey, a concert opera adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning work by Rhiannon Giddens and Michael Abels; and Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with the Idaho Civic-Symphony Orchestra. She performed the role of Lucy in the 2023 production of Treemonisha as part of the Luminato Festival in Toronto. Other highlights include Sophia in Tod Machover’s VALIS; Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos); Queen of the Night in a film version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute with INSeries Opera; Amelia Alumond (cover) in Quamino’s Map with Chicago Opera Theater; Sister Sophia (The Sound of Music) with Asolo Repertory Theatre; and Williams in the premiere of Stonewall by Iain Bell and Mark Campbell with New York City Opera.
She received a master’s degree from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree from Barnard College of Columbia University. Kristin hails from Philadelphia and resides in Brooklyn, NY, where she is also a certified yoga instructor.
