Gerard St.Gerard is an American tenor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who performs actively as a soloist and chorister. Recent appearances include performing the Bach B minor Mass in the Bach Festival of Montreal and as soloist with the Orchestre Symphonique de Drummondville in the “From Jazz to Gospel” concert series exploring the influence of African Americans on classical music. Gerard attended Central High of Philadelphia, the second oldest public high school in the United States, where he performed in the Concert Choir led by director and Hildegard Music Publisher Elinor Armsby. It was as a member of this choir that Gerard toured Hungary and was featured as a soloist at Gödöllő Palace and Vajdahunyad Castle in the City Park of Budapest. Other formative experiences were his time singing with the Former Central High Gospel Choir directed by Desmond Byrd, and as a member of Philadelphia’s All-City Choir led by Dorina Morrow and Don Liuzzi, longtime principal timpanist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. After high school, Gerard studied at Settlement Music School and Gibson Music School where he was encouraged to pursue further study by famed educator Randy J. Gibson. Gerard is a member of Nigra Sum, a cultural organization aiming to promote Afro-diasporic choral works in Quebec. He studies classical voice performance and music history at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music.
