Marissa Trott is an emerging theatre-creator, based in Toronto Ontario. She graduated from Mount Allison University in Sackville New Brunswick in 2020 with a BA in Dramatic Arts and Sociology. Her main focus in school was on directing and production management , and during that time she successfully captivated her audience with her first directing piece 'California Suite: Visitors from Philadelphia' (2017) written by Neil Simons, before going on to direct 'The End of 'I'' (2018) written by Diana Amsterdam as part of Mount Allison’s 2018-2019 theatre season. Since then, Marissa has taken on the role of playwright and producer where she wrote her first piece Distance/ing (2020) Apart of Livebait Theatres Social Distancing Festival, Like A Garden You Grow (2021) in Collaboration with Vibe Arts Toronto and TO live, Lost Boy (2021) with Golden Hour Theatre, and Interrogation Room (2021). Most Recently Marissa was the Apprentice Stage Manager and Production Coordinator for Musical Stage Companies, 4x Dora Nominated Musical and Winner of Outstanding New Musical (2022) ‘Dixon Road’ by Fatuma Adar

As an artist what Marissa likes to do is create stories that spark conversation. Stories that speak about her life and experiences with identity, culture and upbringing, mental health and traumas, and what it means to be a female in today's society. She likes to create work that is verbally and visually presented in ways that can captivate audiences. From the carefully thought-out lighting and intricate movement (Physical Theatre) to heightening all of the human senses escaping from realism.

Other productions Marissa has participated in include Livebait Theatre’s 'Uh, Oh Canada!' (2018), the Tom Coash's two-woman show 'Veils' (2019), Mount Allison’s production of 'GODSPELL' (2019), and '12 Angry Jurors,' based on the famous television show ‘12 Angry Men.
